Laser Hair Removal

You will be required to have a consultation with our Laser Specialist at least 24hrs before your first treatment. During the consultation you will be asked about your medical history. The area to be treated will be examined. The treatment will be fully explained, and a custom treatment plan will be suggested for you based on your hair removal needs. 

Before individual sessions, you will need to have shaved the treatment area(s) 24hrs prior to treatment. During a session a thick cold gel will be applied, and you will be given safety eye-wear. The laser hand piece is then placed in contact with the skin and is passed over the treatment area numerous times until the treatment is completed.

Typically, 8 to 10 sessions and additional treatments (touch-up sessions) are recommended every 6 to 12 months to keep any dormant hairs at bay. The number of sessions will be different from person to person with a minimum of 6 treatments being required. 

During the hair growth cycle only a certain percentage of hairs are in the active growing phase, which is the phase in which we destroy hair follicles. This is why multiple treatments are needed to destroy most hair follicles over 6-8 sessions. 

Actively growing hairs that are treated should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged it cannot grow hair. However, it is not unusual for patients to have a touch up session once every 6 to 12 months, depending on hair type. Hormonal changes (including pregnancy and menopause), and ageing could influence the future possibility of regrowth of hair in areas previously treated.
